8 Steps for a New Year of Writing
New Year’s Eve parties are around the corner, and the holiday decorations are ready to be boxed away. I cannot find a single gingerbread cookie in this house, while my cat, Blaze, still plays with a satin gift bow. Everyone is making and posting New Year’s resolutions.
A new year means different things to writers. Will you finally sit down and finish that book started during NaNoWriMo? Or, do you have edits due back to your publisher for that book you sold at the last RWA Conference? Have a book coming out in the new year? Better get that 2018 calendar out and plan your promotion strategy. Workshops (either on-line or in a state far away) require $$, so have you made your budget for the new year?
Writing is fun, but we must not lose sight of the business aspect. This is where RWA and the Fantasy-Futuristic & Paranormal Romance Writers can help. We offer workshops, awesome blogs on the craft of writing, interviews with agents and editors, and camaraderie. So, here is a Quick List for 2018:
- FINISH THE BOOK!
- FINISH THOSE EDITS!
- START YOUR PROMOTION CALENDAR
- SET UP A BUDGET FOR OFFICE SUPPLIES OR FOR PROMOTING A BOOK
- PLAN TO TAKE A WORKSHOP
- SIGN-UP TO AUTOMATICALLY GET THE FF&P BLOG ARTICLES EVERY THURSDAY
- VOLUNTEER TO WRITE ONE OF THOSE ARTICLES by contacting me at email@example.com
- ENJOY WRITING THE NEXT BOOK!
