Jonesy is an Iowa transplant living in the Bay Area with her family. She loves karaoking to Alanis Morrisette, completing yoga with all the props, and attending rock concerts. Jonesy is an unabashed caffeine addict and order her sugar-free vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Jonesy’s short story, “The Honeymoon of the Lizard Princess,” is in the upcoming FF & P sci-fi anthology, Lure of the Hunt. The anthology is set to publish on October 22, 2024.
Summarize your story in 75 words or less.
‘Twas the night of the lizard princess’s honeymoon, and she nervously awaits in her bedroom for what’s next, but a handsome raider who wants justice for his people interrupts the proceedings. It contains the typical honeymoon jitters of death, sword fights, aura-based kaijus, and hot spring sexy time.
What’s a favorite part of your story?
When Esen, the raider, pretends to be a husband for Juno so that she can have a positive experience on her honeymoon night.
What/who was the inspiration for your story?
I consider my author brand to take Saturday morning cartoons or shows and turn them into spicy romance. I thought of Power Rangers and Super Mario Bros. and tried to make some romance sense of it.
Name three of your favorite sci-fi or fantasy authors.
Brian K. Vaughn and Gena Showalter.
If you could meet anyone, imaginary or real, in sci-fi or fantasy, who would it be and why?
Lestat Lioncourt because I’d want to hear his brat opinions about things to laugh. I’d also like to meet Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen so that I could be soothed by someone who can see through space and time. Despite all that he sees, he would assure me that my life is a miracle.
Tell us about your latest release(s) and what’s coming next for you.
I released my debut novel, Saint of the Shadows, a Batman-inspired superhero romance December 2023. I am currently writing its sequel, Deus Ex Umbra. Because I’m a total Gemini, I’m releasing a spicy, age gap raunch-com (she’s older) on September 10, 2024 titled Personal Best. The only magic in it is love.
