Anthology Interview with Kerrie Faye

Image of a dark haired woman wearing glasses and a cream colored v-neck top. She's in a living room with open french doors.Hello from Colorado! Kerrie is a creative at heart who found the passion to write later in life. My debut novel, Dead Girl, released early 2024. When she’s not reading or writing, Kerrie can be found watching the NFL or binging reality TV.

Kerrie’s short story, “Unholy Union,” is set to appear in the upcoming FF & P anthology, Secrets We Keep. The anthology is scheduled to publish on October 22, 2025.

Summarize your story in 75 words or less.

“Unholy Union” is about an entitled, horny she-wolf and an occult expert, who also happens to be a celibate vampire. The two are forced to work together when a killer threatens her family’s high-profile pack. Secrets are revealed and passions ignite when these two forgo their oaths and fall in love and into a trap set by the killer.

What’s a favorite part of your story?

My favorite part is the verbal sparring between Lily and Ben, the two enemies to lovers.

What/who was the inspiration for your story?

Beth Dutton. She is the rebellious daughter on the TV show, Yellowstone. I love her character. She is never afraid to say what she thinks, and she also happens to have a craving for the opposite sex. She was the inspiration for my main character, Lily Hamilton. Lily is a college student and granddaughter of a very powerful Alpha werewolf. She is a bit spoiled and blunt, but underneath that hard exterior is a she-wolf that will submit for the right partner.

Name three of your favorite sci-fi or fantasy authors.

There are so many–much more than three! But, just off the top of my head, I would go with: Jay Kristoff, Leigh Bardugo, and Brandon Sanderson.

If you could meet anyone, imaginary or real, in sci-fi or fantasy, who would it be and why?

George R. R. Martin. I really need to know how the Game of Thrones series is supposed to end because what HBO left us with in that final season was extremely underwhelming.

You’re stranded on a desert island, and you can only have one book. Which book do you bring with you and why?

Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff.

This is a very difficult choice. But because of his delicious prose and the actual number of pages, I choose EOTV because I know I’ll be entertained for days and never grow tired of the main character.

Tell us about your latest release(s) and what’s coming next for you.

Thank you for asking! I am super proud of Dead Girl. It is the first book in my planned young adult paranormal thriller series.

Published by The Wild Rose Press a few months ago, I am so grateful that the story has been well-received by readers and book reviewers alike. Right now, I am finishing up revisions on an upper, young adult romantasy that I plan to query soon. Then, I will go back and finish revisions on Book Two of the Dead Girl series with the hope that it will be published in 2025.
